Corporate Video Planning - know what you want before you choose you video producer

To get the best value from your corporate video quids there's plenty of work to be done before the camera leaves its case. Thorough planning is vital to your corporate video production's success. This video, right, commissioned by MyTownTiggers, is a typical example of my corporate documentary style.

The video aims to introduce the essence of exactly what Tiggers does, they began as a Blackpool based support organisation for local parents with children on the of autistic spectrum.

The organisation, founded by Debra Bookbinder, has proved so successful that it is now, under the MyTownTiggers umberella, opening up the opportunity for other towns and cities to begin their own local self-supporting Tigger organisation. A sort of 'social enterprise franchise'.

This video is an introduction to parents with autistic children who need support. It demonstrates what a local 'Tiggers' could do for them and their area. So far the video has been well received and hits the exact point at which parents and local authorities can communicate and understand what each needs for, and from, the other.

Planning you corporate video - points to consider

Objectives - what do you want to communicate and why?

Define your audience – who are you trying to reach?

Agree your budget. – what’s the value to your company?

Alternative uses/edits – shooting footage now could save ££££’s later.

Content - What do you need to include?

Distribution media – how are you going to deliver this programme?

Lifetime – is this to deliver a one-off message or for long term distribution?

Deadline - when do you need this project to be completed?

Script - do you write your own, use a professional or a bit of each?

Location – do you want to shoot on site or in a studio?
